Hainan Boao Eye Hospital of Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center

As the only eye hospital directly affiliated with and adminis‐tered by the National Health Commission of China, Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center hosts the State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology and is designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Eye Care and Vision. For decades, it has remained at the fore‐front of the field in the diagnosis and treatment of complex eye diseases, ophthalmic research and innovation, professional train‐ing and international cooperation, serving as a vital force for the development of ophthalmology in China. Hainan Boao Eye Hospital aims to build a coordinated multi-subspecialty eye care system, with dedicated areas covering cataract, glaucoma, corneal diseases, retinal diseases, refractive conditions, pediatric eye diseases, hereditary eye diseases, ocular immunology, and neuro-ophthalmology. The hospital focuses on complex and challenging eye diseases, high-quality eye health management, and the application of international innovative drugs and medical devices, striving to deliver ophthalmic services that are more precise, continuous, and convenient for every patient. Capitalizing on the pioneering and trial policy of Lecheng Pilot Zone, the hospital will actively introduce globally advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies as well as innovative pharmaceuticals and devices. It will explore cutting-edge fields such as ocular gene therapy, photodynamic therapy, AI-assisted diagnosis and treatment, surgical robotics, and real-world re‐search, facilitating the implementation of more global innovations in Lecheng. This will enable patients to access the world’s latest ophthalmic technologies and solutions at an earlier time in Hainan.
